Section Two: Part A Verb practice You have already mastered the personal pronouns, when you should use du or Sie, and the verb-endings chart from Unit 2. If you are not yet feeling comfortable that you don't remember each ending every time, don't worry! It takes a while to always get it right. Remember the Sprichwort you learned? Übung macht den Meister! Well then, let's practice some more!
Conjugate the following verbs in their correct form using the exact same word order in the cues given. 1. Dieter/kaufen/CDs. 2. Wolfgang und Elisabeth/singen/auf Deutsch. 3. Günter/spielen/Tennis. 4. Karin/machen/die Hausaufgaben. 5. Frau Messerschmidt/kochen/Nudelsuppe. Then, write the same sentence, but replace the proper names of the people with the appropriate personal pronoun(s) as though you are talking about them. This assignment is worth 20 points. Irregular Verbs: haben (to have) and sein (to be). As of yet, you have only had regular verbs, that is, verbs that follow the same pattern. The regular verbs are easy to remember, because you merely use the verb stem + the ending. Irregular verbs are verbs that do not follow the verb chart. Some are easier to remember than others, but regardless, you must memorize their correct forms. The two most commonly used irregular verbs are haben and sein. haben (to have)
sein (to be)
Practice putting the correct verb ending on each cue given. The first list is for haben and the second list is for sein. Click on each one to see if you've gotten the correct form. Now go on to Part B. |
