Introduction Willkommen! Das Thema für Lektion 8 ist "Das Essen" Farmers markets are interesting places to learn about the foods that are eaten in another country. Often people go to get fresh foods on a daily basis if they can, because they prefer them to frozen or canned foods. The market is a colorful place where you can see a great deal of diversity represented. You'll probably see foods we don't even eat in the United States, and the Marktfrauen will probably NOT speak English. Lektion 8 In Unit Eight we are going to learn to talk about mealtimes and foods. There will be a lot of vocabulary, but not much grammar. Just remember that fluency in any foreign language does not happen over night; but the more you practice and seek ways to use your new skills the quicker that fluency will come. In Das Essen you will learn about: foods and food vocabulary mealtimes and eating habits in the German speaking world ordering food and conversing in a restaurant the custom of Kaffee und Kuchen German-style fast foods the use of dieser, jeder, and welcher the accusative prepositions der Schwarzwald (the Black Forest) As you work, keep in mind the symbols that will help you to remember what it is you are going to be doing throughout the course. If you have forgotten those, you can look back at them to keep them in mind. Unit Activities Below is a list of the various activities in the unit.
