Section Two: Part C Now that you know the numbers 0-10, let's learn to count even higher. Look at the calendar that we looked at in order to be able to see and hear the numbers up to 31 in German. Be sure to repeat after the speaker. From looking at the numbers, you can see that past 12, all of the numbers are very repetitive combinations of the other numbers, with the spelling exceptions in sechzehn, siebzehn, einundzwanzig and einunddreißig (the endings drop off of the original numbers). The numbers are all exactly alike when you get to 22+ and 32+. You simply use the base number plus the denomination of zwanzig or dreißig. In order to spell the numbers in German, you must write the entire number as one word. Just imagine how long they will be when you get into the thousands or millions! Note: Welcher Tag ist heute? is "What day is today?". Begin your response by saying, "Es ist..." and then the correct day of the week. The first one is done for you.
