Introduction
Welcome to Der Kalender,
Unit 2!
You came through the entire first unit of German 1a! Gratuliere!
Congratulations! You now know how to say many things that you didn't know
prior to this course. You must keep in mind that fluency in German (or
any foreign language) does not happen over night. It may seem to be a
very slow process to you but it is one that is achieved the more you practice
and seek ways to use your new skills.
In Der Kalender you will:
- talk about the days of the week
- learn the numbers 0-31
- talk about the date
- talk about what things you like to do on different days
- talk about your birthday
- learn about the country of Germany and several important cultural
aspects of that country
- learn what cognates are and how to recognize them
- learn about nouns and how to make them plural
- learn that nouns have gender
- learn the definite articles and their forms
- learn to recognize subject pronouns
- learn to conjugate regular verbs
As you work, keep in mind the symbols that will help you to remember what it is you are going to be doing throughout the course. If you have forgotten those, you can look back at them to keep them in mind.
