The word vor followed by an amount of time (in the dative case) means that long "ago." Here are some more examples: vor zehn Minuten, vor zwei Jahren, vor einem Monat, vor einer Stunde. You do not have to have the exact answers as above, but you must have something in the same time frame. If the question asks you, "When did you go home?" you cannot say, "I went home tomorrow." With two exceptions, the nouns above are derived from strong verbs, which means there is a vowel change. It's also important to note that most nouns derived from verbs are masculine. Wasn't that fun?
