Introduction

Willkommen!
Das Thema für Lektion Acht ist "Das Freizeitangebot"
Football fans in costumes

"König Fußball"
"King Soccer" appropriately sums up how millions of Germans feel about soccer. Germany's most popular sport is played at all levels-from the smallest village club or regional league to the national Bundesliga team. There are thousands of amateur soccer clubs throughout the country, and the German Football Federation (DFB - Deutscher Fußball Bund) has over 6.3 million members. Germany has won the World Cup three times - in 1954, 1974 and 1990, and will host the tournament in 2006. Germany's most well-known player of all time is Franz Beckenbauer, who is known as the soccer "Kaiser" for his influence on the sport.

In Das Freizeitangebot you will:

  1. talk about events you can go to for entertainment
  2. talk about snack foods
  3. learn to make negative responses in answering questions
  4. talk about how frequently you do things
  5. talk about when things happen (today, yesterday, tomorrow)
  6. learn about soccer and the World Cup

As you work, keep in mind the symbols that will help you to remember what it is you are going to be doing throughout the course. If you have forgotten those, you can look back at them to keep them in mind.
