You should have practiced the vocabulary many times so that by now you are becoming familiar with what the words mean in German. If you have not, please do go back to Section 1, Part A and do that before you go on. You may have noticed that some of the expressions in talking about the weather have "Es ist..." in front of them. Some of them look different, in that they say "Es regnet". The difference is that you can use Es ist + an adjective to describe what the weather is like, as in Es ist warm, or "It is warm". You can also use an action verb like regnen (to rain) to describe what the weather is doing, as in Es regnet, which is also a complete sentence meaning "It is raining".
The last two pictures give you a couple of nouns. You might say Der Regen ist schlecht or Der Schnee ist kalt. Speaking Assignment Writing Practice In this practice activity, read the date given and then write what season it would be. Click on the date to see if you are correct.
