 Las Instrucciones
Sofía y su madre, Gloria, hablan de los problemas que Sofía tiene en la escuela. Lee la conversación entre Sofía y su madre.
Mamá: Sofía, ¡estudia en la escuela!
Sofía: Yo estudio mamá pero a veces no salgo bien en la tarea o en los exámenes.
Mamá: Pero, Sofía, haz la tarea con calma. No te apures porque así haces muchos errores. Habla con tus maestros cuando no entiendes y pregúntales si tienes alguna pregunta. Escribe la tarea tranquilamente. No la escribas descuidadosamente.
Sofía: Sí, mamá, yo sé. Pero también tengo un problema con mis amigas.
Mamá: Sofía, ¡no te preocupes por las amigas! Las muchachas a veces son difíciles. Lo importante es estudiar. Si haces bien en la escuela, tienes una vida sin problemas.

Sofía and her mother are talking. Do you see the words in bold type? Do you know what is different about them from regular present-tense verbs? Mira estos ejemplos también:

In the first example under each picture, we are telling Roberto (and then Sebastián) to do something.

We know we are talking to Roberto (and then Sebastián) because of the comma that separates the name from the rest. We are giving them what we call the imperative or command form in Spanish.
In Sofía's conversation with her mother above, we also saw the command form. Sofía's mother was giving advice using the imperative form of the verb. Have you figured out how to form this form of the verb? For the familiar (tú) form:
