Teenagers in Birmingham begin a segregation protest march that ended in their being routed by high-pressure hoses and snapping police dogs. |
The “most segregated city in America” was finally tested by Civil Rights leaders in the spring of 1963. It proved to be a tough, but momentous fight for the civil rights leaders. The white community provided a determined resistance to the protests. In the end, it was the involvement of the city’s children that garnered the much needed attention and support for the Birmingham cause.
