The Assassination of President Lincoln
Five days after the General Lee's surrender at Appomattox Courthouse, President Lincoln was assassinated. He and his wife were attending a play at Ford's Theatre when John Wilkes Booth, an actor who believed in white supremacy and who hated President Lincoln, shot and killed the President. He was pronounced dead the next morning, April 15, 1965.
