Nürnberg is a city in the German state of Bavaria, in the region of Middle Franconia. It is situated on the Pegnitz river and the (Rhine-)Main-Danube Canal, nestled on the crossroads between the Castle Road and the Road of Emperors. This is the home city of Albrecht Duerer, famous German painter, which claims almost 1000 years of history. It is known as the location of the Nuremberg rallies of the Nazi Party, and for the Nuremberg Trials of Nazis after World War II. The city's motto is "Stadt der Menschenrechte" (City of Human Rights). Find out more about Nürnberg.
The tower in the picture is part of the well-kept imperial palace of Nürnberg, the Kaiserburg Castle. Once the residence of German emperors and kings, it towers above the 5 km long city walls. The Castle Chapel was built by emperor Frederick Barbarossa.
