Das Projekt
Your project for this unit is going to be to make a photo essay about the daily routine. You may use pictures of yourself or cartoon pictures you find in clipart. You may make it in an essay format or you may use a program such as power point to make slides for the different activities in your day. Though the project is not due until the end of the unit, you will want to begin to work on the project now as there are four deadlines for the project.

You need a total of 15 activities that you do in a day's time. Compose your sentences carefully using correct German that you have learned in this course. Do not rely on dictionaries or internet translators to do this project. Your project needs to be narrated also. The 15 activity sentences must also be recorded and attached.

  • Part 1: Send in your idea for this project to your teacher for approval. How are you going to do the project, brainstorming, etc. (5 points)
  • Part 2: A rough draft of your essay will be due for your teacher's approval. (5 points)
  • Part 3: A rough draft of the entire project will be due. (5 points)
  • Part 4: The project will be due. (25 points)

Das ergibt 40 Punkte. Part 1 is due now.

Bayern
Oktoberfest

The borders of Bavaria have varied considerably in its history. The region was inhabited by Celts before the Romans conquered it. The Baiuoarii invaded it (6th cent. AD) and set up the duchy to which they gave their name. It was one of the five basic or stem duchies of medieval Germany. Bavaria's capital Munich first began its transformation from countryside to city in the 7th century; Benedictine monks founded new monasteries. These monasteries have played an important part in the city’s rich history. Even the German name for Munich, “München” comes from the German word for “monks”. Monks can also be thanked for Munich’s rich beer tradition. The picture above shows a parade on occasion of Munich's most famous annual event, the Oktoberfest.
