Task #2
You have been named the producer of the ACCESS Theatre Company's production of Sun Dried by Edna Ferber. First, go to 10-Minute Plays and read Sun Dried. Don't worry! It is a very short play.
Once you have read it, decide what type of theatre you will stage it in. Is it a Broadway Theatre or an Off-Broadway Theatre? Is it commercial or not-for-profit? Remember, that the type of theatre determines how much money you spend and how much money you will bring in!
Once you have decided your plan for your play, complete 1.02 Theatre Budget where you will create a budget for your production.
In one part of this assignment, you will need to calculate the cost of the programs. Use one of the following booklet printing calculators to get a programs quote for your budget:
- Program Printing, Printing Center USA
- 5.5x8.5 Booklets, ZoePrint.com
- Stapled Booklet, Office Depot
- Print Shop, The UPS Store (select Saddle Stitched Booklet)
Submit your completed work to the 1.02 Theatre Budget Dropbox.
Task #3
It is now time to compare your work! In the previous task, you created a budget for a production of Sun Dried. Now you will be given a chance to compare your proposed budget with a classmate's. Go to the 1.02 Theatre Budget Discussion and upload your budget for your classmates to review.
Next, you should find a classmate's budget to look over and comment on; look for a classmate whose budget has not been given feedback yet. In your review, be sure to discuss how realistic you believe your classmate's budget to be. Once a classmate has reviewed your own budget, reply back to his or her viewpoint.
When participating in an online discussion, you should use formal, standard English and obey all conventions of punctuation and spelling. Avoid abbreviations or symbols used in texting, messaging, or informal conversation.
You will be graded according to the 1.02 Theatre Budget Discussion Scoring Guide.
