Be sure that you clearly understand the following definitions:

1. Food Chain - A food chain shows one path of energy in an ecosystem. It shows predator / prey relationships.
2. Food Web - A food web shows all possible paths of energy flow in an ecosystem as well as all predator / prey relationships and competition.
3. Energy Pyramid - An energy pyramid shows the distribution of energy and biomass in an ecosystem. Remember that only 10% of the energy in a trophic level is available to the next higher trophic level. The direction of the arrow indicates the direction of energy flow to the next trophic level.
