Open 9.05 Historical Fiction Short Story. Write a historical fiction short story adhering to the steps of plot.

Look at the rubric for additional information.

Criteria:

  • portray characters realistically;
  • establish a clear purpose;
  • present authentic settings;
  • fold in historical facts;
  • add a variety of techniques to engage the readers (dialogue, imagery, plot, point of view);
  • convey a sense of significance of the experience;
  • sequence events so the story unfolds naturally for the reader; and
  • use concrete words and sensory details.

Before submitting your narrative to the dropbox, send your short story to the 9.05 Peer Editing Discussion so your classmates may peer edit your work.

Then, open 9.05 Peer Editing. Choose one of your peer's work, read it two or three times, and complete 9.05 Peer Editing.

Once you have provided constructive criticism for your classmate, post it to the 9.05 Peer Editing Discussion so you and your peers can make the appropriate changes to the short story.

After you have finalized your short story, submit your work to the 9.05 Historical Fiction Short Story Dropbox.

You will receive two grades for this assignment:

  • one for your Peer Editing comments and
  • one for your revised short story.

Journal Prompt:

One of the biggest jewelry heists robbery was in Israel in 1983. A thief stole more than one hundred timepieces worth millions. One pocket watch belonged to Marie Antoinette, and was valued at $30 million. In 2006, a watchmaker told police he paid $40,000 to an unknown person for some watches. The trail led police to the wife of Naaman Diller. She said that her husband had confessed these crimes to her, and he told her to sell the collection after his death.

Write the conversation that the husband and wife had about the jewelry heist.
