Journalizing and Posting to the Cash Receipts Journal

Apart from the sales journal, another commonly used special journal is the cash receipts journal. It is used to record all cash receipt transactions. It has a Cash in Bank debit column, as every transaction contained within it debits the Cash in Bank account. The number of credit columns, however, varies, depending on the business’ needs.
