Now that you've examined each painting, you're going to apply what you've learned about historical analysis through art by researching one of the most iconic symbols of American society, the Statue of Liberty. If you have ever visited New York City, it's quite possible that you've actually taken a tour of it and learned about the very important history and symbolism behind the statue. In fact, the Statue of Liberty not only represents the symbol of freedom and equality for Americans, it also reveals a tremendous amount of information about the long-standing alliance between the United States and the country of France.
