Task #1

Use a word processing program to compose a letter explaining to management a safety issue regarding a safety hazard in the workplace.

Subject of the Letter

The letter should address the safety hazard and provide a solution to the problem. If you need help with deciding on a safety issue, you can refer back to your work in Unit 2 on Safety in the Workplace.

For example: a safety issue could be a slippery floor, and the solution could be grease guards.

What to Include in the Letter

Write the letter to Mr. Andrew Miller, ABC Company, 123 Alphabet Road, Anytown, AL 55555. The salutation should read Dear Mr. Miller. It should include a complimentary closing at the end with space for your signature before your typed name.

To Write Your Letter

You can use:

  • Google Docs Templates
  • Blank document correctly formated for a business letter (see 5.05 Learn)

If you choose a template that has "Logo Here," you can create a logo of your own or just delete the placeholder. Placeholders are placed in templates to help you with formatting and correct placement of letter parts. All you need to do is click on the placeholder and put in your own information. If you don't need a placeholder, you can delete it.
