3.03 The homepage

Task

Follow the directions below to complete this task.

Open KompoZer or SeaMonkey.
To create a new page, click New from the File menu. Select A blank document and click Create. A new untitled document will appear in KompoZer. (In SeaMonkey, simply select New from the toolbar.)
Save the untitled document in the webdes1 >> snapshots >> html folder on your computer with the name index.html.
Select Format >> Pages Titles and Properties. When the dialog box appears, change the page title to Snapshots in Time. Click OK.
Select Format >> Page Colors and Background. Change the color of the page's background to complement the three web pages you created in the previous lesson.
Add text in a Heading 1 or 2 font at the top of page. It could be something as simple as "Snapshots in Time...a look at technology. " Be creative! Select a color and font type that coordinates with the three web pages you created in the previous lesson.
Follow the directions below to add a table to the page.
- Use the table button on the Composition toolbar to insert a table with three rows and one column.
- Right-click on the table, then select Table Cell Properties. Make sure the Table tab is highlighted.
Assign the table on the page the following properties:
- Width: 65% of window
- Border: 2 pixels
- Spacing: 1 pixel
- Padding: 1 pixel
- Table alignment: center
- Background color: light yellow.
Within your table, you should place the following on separate rows:
1. Snapshots in Time: 1900-39
2. Snapshots in Time: 1940-69
3. Snapshots in Time: 1970-99
4. Center your headings in your table
Save the page in the webdes1 >> snapshots >> html folder on your computer with the name index.html. It is very important that you save your files in the correct location!
Preview the page in at least two web browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Microsoft Edge, etc.)

When you finish the task, submit the index.html file to 3.03 Homepage Dropbox.
