As an actor or actress, it is important that you are well-prepared for the auditioning process. In order to become a professional, you must be given the opportunity to perform. Without proper practice using specific auditioning skills and techniques, and without a routine that best suits you and your personal acting attributes, you may never be given that opportunity.

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Become familiar with audition expectations and vocabulary
  • Demonstrate ways an actor/actress controls his/her voice
  • Develop and portray characters through postures, gestures, and facial expressions
  • Discuss and explain the acting process used to perform a monologue
  • Create an acting résumé
