ACCESS Learning Object + Task Model
Please submit your lesson using the ACCESS LO+T Form. The form contains these sections.
Introduction
Introduce students to content by engaging them by linking to previous knowledge, their experiences, a real-life situation, or inquiry. This section should include the related course of study standard number and a measurable objective written for students.
Learn
This section of the lesson provides most of the content delivery to students. It can include (but is not limited to) the following:
- written content
- original presentations (submitted as separate PowerPoint / presentation / video files, if needed)
- links to reliable, stable outside resources (no YouTube or Wikipedia)
- example problems
- graphics
Please note that the essential content for a course should be part of the course. In other words, we should not rely on external websites for critical content delivery.
This section should also contain frequent knowledge checks. These are short questions meant to test basic knowledge as the content is delivered. Think of them as the questions a teacher might ask their class during teaching. These can be multiple choice, true/false, FIB, or short answer questions. They should be distrbuted throughout the Learn to encourage interaction with the content.
Task
The final piece of the lesson should include a brief summary of concepts, including linking the concepts to future materials and/or impacts in real life situations or the students’ lives. It should also include an assignment submitted to the teacher that will prove the student has mastered the objective. Tasks can include (but are not limited to)
- open-ended questions.
- objective questions.
- informal writing.
- creative projects.
You should feel free to incorporate current course content into the LO+T form. However, to give us the best picture of your as a subject matter expert, make sure to incorporate your own original content as well.
Remember, the audience for an ACCESS lesson is a student. Please write for a student audience. Submissions of teacher lesson plans do not give a clear picture of SME potential.
Feel free to distribute this information to anyone who may be interested.
