Introduction

Continuing with our unit on Fitness Basics, this lesson will provide you with information on stretching activities that can be used for cooldown at the end of your workouts.

Lesson Objectives

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to...

  • Identify appropriate and inappropriate cooldown activities.
  • Identify the risks of the inappropriate flexibility activities.
  • Participate in physical activity daily to demonstrate how long you can jump rope and how far you can jog in 45 minutes.
  • Perform a workout with activities such a warm-up and cooldown activities, using correct stretching techniques.

  • What are fitness terms and what do they mean?
  • How can we safely participate in physical fitness activities using proper fitness techniques?
  • What specialized skills can we learn to help with lifelong fitness (walking, jogging, stretching, dancing, etc.)?
