Introduction

Continuing with our exploration of flexibility, this lesson will provide you with information on the different types of stretching exercises for flexibility.

Lesson Objectives

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to...

  • Distinguish between and categorize flexibility exercises by type: static, ballistic dynamic, and PNF.
  • Demonstrate how far you can walk and/or jog in 35 minutes.
  • Perform a workout for 45 continuous minutes also using warm-up and cooldown activities.
  • Demonstrate correct use of stretching techniques.

  • What are proper fitness techniques?
  • How can we safely participate in physical fitness activities?
  • What specialized skills can we learn to help with lifelong fitness (walking, jogging, stretching, dancing, etc.)?
