Introduction

When you look at a newspaper, you should notice that the size of printed words and the way they appear varies. Journalists and designer use the letters and words themselves to make the page appear appealing to the eye. Typography — the size, position, and style of lettering — is another important design factor in all print media and even cyber media. Typography must be considered when creating a newspaper page.

At the end of this lesson, student will be able to:

  • develop a rationale for typographical packaging as well as experiment with various typographical elements.
  • define common terms dealing with typography.
