Task #1
Accident prevention and first aid are two ways to preserve health and safety. In 3.07 First Aid Discussion, you will discuss how to prevent accidents, and how to overcome barriers to providing first aid. Post a response addressing the following prompts:
- Accidents are a leading cause of injury, illness, and death. Almost all accidents can be prevented. List 3 ways you can prevent accidents.
- Providing first aid can preserve life, prevent the situation from becoming worse, and promote recovery. However, some people are not willing to help. Using information from the lesson give 2 reasons someone may choose not to help.
After you have given your examples, respond to at least one classmate's reason why someone may choose not to help. Give positive feedback as to how a person could overcome the barrier that prevents them from helping an ill or injured person.

Task #2
What do we do when someone needs our help? We must be ready to act. In this assignment you will teach your family and friends proper first aid.
Have someone take pictures or make a video of you showing what to do in each of the situations below.
- Choking
- Seizures
- Burns
- Severe allergic reactions
- Cuts, scratches, and scrapes
- Knee injury (including the principles of RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
- Nosebleeds
- Bug bites
