Lesson 8.01 Das Essen (food)

Throughout Unit 8, you and a group of your classmates will work together to study the four regions of Germany (North, South, East, and West). You will individually complete research about one of the areas, and share the information with your group. At the end of the project, you and your group will create one picture essay that compares and contrasts the different areas.

For the first part of the project, your teacher will put you in a group and create a discussion thread for your group to use under Das Projekt Group Work Discussion.

Step One:
Go to Das Projekt Group Work Discussion and locate your group's discussion thread.

Step Two:
Next, introduce yourself to your group and decide who will research each region (North, South, East, and West). If your group only has three people, then it is okay if one area is not covered.

Step Three: Begin locating online sources about each area. Post any links you find that might help your research or your group's research. While looking for sources, you should try to find out:

• What major German cities are located within the area?
• What is there to do and see in the area of study?
• What are the local history, culture, and dialect for the area?
• Are there any regional foods or recipes that the area is known for?
• Are there any famous people that come from the area?
• Other interesting facts about the area
