Introduction

In the previous lesson, you learned how and why water is treated before human consumption. Water sources can become polluted by natural and human causes. Not only does contaminated water have a negative effect on humans, it can also have negative impacts on the organisms that are living in rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams. Water sources are monitored by local, state, and federal agencies to determine water quality and what actions might need to be taken to maintain and improve water quality for ecosystems.

In this lesson, you will learn different techniques of testing water quality.
