Complete 2.01 Exponential Growth Discussion.
In exponential growth, a population's numbers double in a given amount of time. For example, in the bacterium activity you just completed, the bacteria doubled every 30 minutes. In order to see how numbers increase rapidly with an exponential growth model, consider the following scenario:
Your boss wants to pay you on an exponential growth model for a month. He will begin paying you 1 cent or $0.01 dollars on the first day of the month and the pay will double daily. On day one you will get 1 cent; on day two you will get 2 cents, on day 3 you will get 4 cents, etc.
Using the information in the scenario, post an answer to the following questions:
- How much money would you earn for the month (say there are 30 days in the month)? You will definitely need your calculator for this one.
- Why or why wouldn't you accept this job offer of pay from your boss?
After you post your response, look at your classmates' posts and respond to at least two of them with thoughts on their post.
