1. Go to the following website: The Finger Rub Experiment

2. Read the directions.

3. Gather three soil samples.

   • First, make sure you have permission to take soil from the areas you choose.
   • Second, find three very different areas. For example, you might want to collect one from your house, one from your school, and one from an area further away.
   • To collect your sample, you will need a plastic sandwich bag or other container.
   • If you can, take a picture of each of your samples.

4. Perform the Finger Rub Experiment on all three samples.

5. Complete the response sheet.

6. Submit your response sheet to the Unit 2 Lab Dropbox.

7. Post your findings (and pictures) in Unit 2 Lab Discussion so that other students can see what kind of soil is in your area. Be sure to include where you found your soil samples and the city/county where you live. See if any of your classmates found the same type of soil in their area.
