Go to SAS Curriculum Pathways to review your punctuation rules on commas. Click here for instructions on logging in to SAS Curriculum Pathways. Complete lesson 1b: Introductory Elements. View the presentation.  Then complete the practice sentences.

Finally, take the quiz, save it to a PDF file, and submit to the 3.02 Introductory Elements Dropbox.

Open the 3.02 Comparing/Contrasting Chart.  Look at both poems and note the speakers’ differing attitudes toward love.  Fill in the chart for each stanza.  Save your work and submit to the 3.02 Comparing/Contrasting Chart Dropbox.

You are going to read two commentaries on the poems, annotate the articles, paraphrase the important passages, and write an essay about your findings.

Essay topic:  After reading the two poems, “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” and “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd,” analyze the message and tone of the speaker’s of each poem.  Comment on the relationship between the poems and consider why certain images may have been chosen.  Read two commentaries on the poems to give you insight.  In a well-crafted three paragraph essay, compose your answers.

If you want to use any of the information directly from the poem or the passages in your essay, you must give the source credit called in-text citation.  You will also include a Works Cited page with four sources on it:  the two articles and the two poems.
