Read Ernest Hemingway’s “In Another Country”. In at least one paragraph, discuss how important the setting is to revealing the theme of the story. If the setting had been elsewhere, would the theme be as clearly expressed? What specific descriptions of the setting help to reveal the theme? Next, read Sara Teasdale’s “There Will Come Soft Rains” to further see the impact of war. In at least two paragraphs, discuss the themes present in Hemingway’s “In Another Country” and Teasdale’s “There Will Come Soft Rains.” What similarities are present between the two selections?
