What were the 10 most significant events for the Plymouth colonists? Base your decision on the information from your readings in this lesson. Place your most significant events on the ReadWriteThink Timeline.

  1. Enter your name and 1.02 Timeline.
  2. Choose Start.
  3. Select the timeline where you want to add an event.
  4. Enter the date of the event as the label.
  5. Provide a short description of the event.
  6. In the full description, write two or more sentences explaining why this event is so important for the colonists. Support your reasoning with textual evidence from the lesson or Of Plymouth Plantation.
  7. Choose the check button when you have filled in all of the information about your event.
  8. Click to place the box containing the information about your event.
  9. Repeat steps 3-8 to add additional events to the timeline. You should have at least ten events on your timeline.
  10. Select Finish when you have written about your ten events.
  11. Select Save Final, and name your file Your Name Timeline.
  12. Save your file to your computer.
  13. Submit it to the 1.02 Timeline Dropbox.

The poem "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus is found on the base of the Statue of Liberty. In paragraph form, give a line-by-line justification for how these famous closing lines can apply to the Pilgrims' experiences coming to and in America. You may use textual evidence from Of Plymouth Plantation and one of the websites in the lesson. Highlight an example of each of the following in your paragraph:

  • parallelism,
  • passive voice, and
  • active voice.
