Characteristics

Writers should think about five basic characteristics for advertisements.

The Message

The message is the intent that the author wants you to like or do.

Is the ad trying to sell something?

The Picture

There is usually a visual image to attract your attention to the product.

The Tone

The author creates a tone and/or mood in the ad.

This technique uses feelings to persuade you.

The Creativity

The more creative, the better.

Ad agencies make big money to create a joke, a rhyme, a song, or a cartoon that sticks in your head

The Call to Action

The ad must have a call to action because it wants you to do something because of the product's message.
