Introduction
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
- Mark Twain
Have you ever traveled to another state? What about another country? People travel for many reasons; it may be for adventure, new experiences, family, or work. Traveling is a part of people's life, but it's the purpose that varies.
Can you imagine what life would be like without traveling?

In the 2nd century, most people spent their entire lives in the village where they were born. Then, those explorers seeking new lands began writing down their adventures. Thus, travel writing began when people were recording their travels across unknown lands.
The travel writing genre includes diaries, adventure, exploration, guide books, nature writing, etc.
For instance, in the 13th century, Marco Polo traveled to Cenral Asia and China; after seventeen years, he returned back to Italy and wrote about his traveling experiences in a book appropriately called Travels with Marco Polo.
John Steinbeck traveled the American countryside with his dog Charley in 1960. He wrote a book called Travels with Charley: In Search of America.
