Introduction

"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts..."

- William Shakespeare, As You Like It

Do you enjoy watching movies or seeing a favorite character on screen? Many actors began their career in their high school auditorium.

Drama began with the Greeks around the year 500 B.C. Drama is a Greek word that means to do, or act, perform.

Drama was such an important form of communication and expression to the Greeks that they preserved the plays of many of their playwrights and the manuscripts of philosophers such as Aristotle. These plays are still performed and studied today all over the world.
