You may use the following ten basic rules of netiquette to help you complete this task:
- Include a subject line which reflects the content
- Be clear and concise; try to limit words to what can be seen on one computer screen
- Do not use ALL CAPS
- Use proper business English, no abbreviations, and use emoticons sparingly
- Check spelling and grammar
- Ask before you send an attachment to someone
- Do not send personal information, passwords, or sensitive/questionable information via email
- Don't type anything on your screen that you would not tell someone face-to-face
- Always minimize, compress, or zip large files before sending
- Verify anything you forward as true and delete all of the other email addresses in the heading
Task #2
When sending email or participating in a discussion group, always be polite and professional and apply basic rules of email netiquette. Even the smallest act of kindness or consideration can make a difference. Dozens of philosophers, from Aristotle to Emerson, have pointed out this truth: "Manners make the man."
To complete the 2.01 Email to Teacher task, you will send an appropriate email to your teacher inquiring about your grade. Before pressing send, take a screenshot of your email and paste it in the 2.01 Email to Teacher task document. You may use the ACCESS: Making a Screenshot tutorial.
Here are the rules you must follow in your email:
- Include a Subject Line which reflects the content
- Include a greeting such as "Mrs. Doe"
- Be clear and concise (not too wordy)
- Use a standard font such as Times New Roman 11 (no fancy or large fonts)
- Use proper business English (no abbreviations or emoticons/emojis)
- Spellcheck and proofread
You must follow these rules for the remainder of this class. Send the email to your teacher.
Submit your completed work to the 2.01 Email to Teacher Dropbox.
