In this lesson, you will continue exploring the quadratic function by learning about the vertex form. The vertex form will allow you to easily find the vertex of a parabola.

Explore Activity:

Before beginning the lesson, explore the vertex form of a quadratic function. Use GeoGebra - Exploring Vertex Form to complete 5.03 Exploring Vertex Form.

Note: You will be asked to submit this worksheet during the Task portion of the Lesson. 

 

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales.
  • Interpret key features of graphs.
  • Sketch simple graphs of quadratic functions.
  • Identify the effect on the graph of replacing f(x) by f(x) + k and f(x + h) for specific values of h and k.
  • Experiment using technology.
