Complete 2.02 Stock Simulations based on your experience with either the MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange Game or the Investopedia Stock Market Game. Follow the instructions below to create an account and play a game.

MarketWatch Stock Simulator
Complete the MatchWatch Stock Simluator activity below.
Go to the MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange. You will have to set up a free account using an external email address from domains like gmail, yahoo, aol, etc. Instructions for the MarketWatch Simulator are included in the next two tabs.
You will play this game for one week. You may choose whatever stocks you would like. Be sure to log in each day. You may sell, hold or buy additional stock if you have any available funds. You must complete this activity in order to complete the 2.02 Stock Simulations Task.
As you are playing the Stock Market game over the next week, be sure to continue working in the next lessons so that you do not fall behind with this class!
MarketWatch Game: Create an Account
You will need to first set up a free account in the MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange game.
To use this simulator, you must use an external email to register (such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc). If you do not have access to an external email address, skip to the Investopedia Alternative tab.
To create an account:
- Open the MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange website.
- Select the "Create Game" button.
- On the Sign In page, scroll to the bottom and select "For limited access, create a free registration account here" under the sign in buttons.
- Register your account by adding your name, email, and create a password.
- Once submitted, return to MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange and select "Create Game" to begin.
MarketWatch Game: Create a Game
Once you have set up an account, follow these instructions to play:
To set up a game:
- Log in and select Create a Game
- Choose Normal level
- Enter your first name as group name
- Enter today's date as the start date. You will play for one week so enter the date of one week from today as the end date.
- Select YES for the answer to "Can new players join after the game has started?"
- You may choose your own tag line or leave it blank.
- Proceed to next step.
To accept the symbols offered in step 4, proceed to the next step.
- Set game to private. Enter a password of your choice.
- Set player portfolios to private.
- Proceed to the next step.
- Join your game by entering your password.
Investopedia Alternative
To use the MarketWatch game, you must provide an external email to create an account, such as an email from gmail, yahoo, hotmail, aol, etc. If you do not have access to an external email address or cannot use one, follow the instructions below to use the alternative Investopedia Stock Market Game.
You will play this game for one week. You may choose whatever stocks you would like. Be sure to log in each day. You may sell, hold or buy additional stock if you have any available funds. You must complete this activity in order to complete the 2.02 Task.
As you are playing the Stock Market game over the next week, be sure to continue working in the next lessons so that you do not fall behind with this class!
Create an Account
You will need to first set up a free account in the Investopedia Stock Market Game
To set up an account:
- Open the Investopedia Stock Market Game website.
- Complete the "Register Now" form by adding your email and creating a username and password.
NOTE: You may use your school email to register or use an external email such as an address from gmail, hotmail, aol, yahoo, etc. - Once you create an account, you will be taken to a couple of pages where you can sign up for free newsletters and offers. You should skip these pages:
- On the Simulator Registration Step 2: Free Newsletters page, scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Skip and Continue."
- On the Simulator Registration Step 3: Exclusive Offers page, scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Skip"
- At the top of the Thank You For Subscribing! page, select "Simulator" from the top grey bar and then select "Stock Simulator." You should be directed to the Join A Game page.
Create a Game
You will be prompted to join a game on the Join A Game page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Create a custom game now" under the "More Information" tab.
- From the Create a Game page, make the game name "ACCESS."
- Change game type to "Private" and set a password.
- Change your starting cash to your desired amount.
- Under Basic Game Rules enter today's date as the start date. You will play for one week so enter the date of one week from today as the end date.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Creat Game."
- Then, select "Games" from the side menu. Once the game opens, select the game name ACCESS to begin trading.
