Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to...
- Graph polynomial functions, identifying zeros when suitable factorizations are available, and showing end behavior.
- Experiment with cases and illustrate an explanation of the effects on the graph using technology. Include recognizing even and odd functions from their graphs and algebraic expressions for them.
- Know the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra; show that it is true for quadratic polynomials.
Essential Questions
- How can you use key features of a function to aid in graphing and interpreting functions?
- How do you determine whether a function is even?
- How do you determine whther a function is odd?
Enduring Understandings
- Student understand the graphs of parent functions, and the effect on transfomations on those functions.
The above objectives correspond with the Alabama Course of Study: Algebra II with Statistics standards: 16, 17, and 20a.
