Introduction

Absolute Value Functions

In this lesson, you will be graphing absolute value functions. Absolute value functions are those that contain an absolute value operation within the problem.

Remember that the absolute value of a number is the distance the number is from zero. For example, the integer 3 is three units from 0. However, -3 is also three units from 0. 3 and -3 have the same absolute value because they are the same distance from 0.

A number line that shows that the distance from negative 3 to zero is 3 units and the distance from 3 to zero is also 3 units.

Absolute Value Review
