Macronutrients
There are three macronutrients: carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Macronutrients are sources of energy and are broken down into smaller components and absorbed for use in the body’s metabolism. Each has its own distinct chemistry, follows specific digestive pathways, and serves specific functions in the body.
Micronutrients
The two basic micronutrient categories are vitamins and minerals. You will discover how these smaller components of nutrition are catalysts for many functions within the human body.
Fluids and Hydration
Some of the most important nutritional factors are fluids and hydration. We will explore the requirements proper fluid intake and examine fluid and hydration products that are currently available.
