Posting Closing Entries to a General Ledger

The next step in the closing process is posting entries to the general ledger accounts. The posting procedure is the same as for any other general journal entry, with one exception: the words Closing Entry are written in the Description column of the general ledger account.

Posting the Closing Entries in the General Ledger is the eighth step in the accounting cycle.
