Psychology : Development and Individual Differences : Introduction

intro

Development is the process and stage of growth from conception across the life span.  It includes physical, cognitive and social behaviors. Developmental psychologists study the physiological, cognitive, and social changes that occur and have an affect on the life stages. Two issues will surface concerning development and they are nature/nurture which is the debate over which has more influence on development, genetics or environment.  The second issue is continuity/discontinuity which debates whether developmental changes are gradual or whether they are a progression through distinct stages.
