Computing is a foundational skill for all students today, and we want to share information with you about the Hour of Code, a global teacher-driven campaign organized by Code.org and hundreds of other partners.

By hosting an Hour of Code event, schools can offer students a free, self-guided, hour-long introductory computer science lesson they can complete on a computer, tablet, smart phone, or even with no computer at all.

Last December, this resulted in 15 million students’ worldwide exploring computer science in one week. Since then, over 40 million students have participated. The Hour of Code will take place again this year during Computer Science Education Week, Dec. 8–14, with the goal of reaching 100 million students.

No experience is required by teachers or students to get started, and tutorials are available online.
