Soldiers advancing under covering fire from Marine aviators in Korea. On June 30, Truman ordered MacArthur's forces stationed in Japan to Korea to help the retreating South Korean army take a stand, and it finally held at a perimeter around the port of Pusan.

Did You Know?

Did you know that the Korean War never officially ended? An armistice, or ceasefire, was signed in 1953 ending the fighting, but an official peace treaty was never signed. Because of that, the United States continues to guard the DMZ in South Korea.
