Despite the fact that China is surrounded by a large number of nations in the world, it has maintained a measure of isolation over the centuries. Take a look at the map. China is located

  • South of Russia and Mongolia;

Countries West of China

  • East of India and the newest nations that have been formed of the former Soviet Union, Kyrgyzsstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan;

East of India are Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan

  • West of North and South Korea, the island nation of Taiwan, and across the Sea of Japan, the nation of Japan;

West of Korea are Taiwan and Japan

Countries South of China

  • North of Nepal - where Mount Everest, the highest peak on the earth is located - Bhutan, Burma, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.

Size of China vs. Size of the U.S.

According to some sources, China is slightly larger than the United States, while others say China is slightly smaller. Despite the disagreement over various disputed lands claimed by China, these two countries occupy third and fourth places in country size, depending on the information source.

Population of China and the U.S.

Now compare the population numbers of two of the largest countries in the world. According to the CIA Factbook, in July of 2020, the population of China was at 1,394,015,977 billion while the population of the United States reached 332,639,1021 million people - almost 1.4 billion vs. 332.6 million people!
