Introduction

During the Renaissance, art flourished, especially as the movement started in Florence, Italy, the birthplace of the Renaissance. As time passed and the Renaissance moved from the Italian peninsula to England, France, the German states, the Netherlands and Spain, artistic form and subjects changed.

 

Lesson Objectives

Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Describe developments in Italy and Northern Europe during the Renaissance period with respect to humanism, arts and literature, intellectual development, increased trade, and advances in technology.
