Following successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Describe the discrimination African Americans faced and the steps to overcome challenges both during the war and in the years immediately following the conflict.
  • Describe the ethnic and racial prejudice faced by Mexican Americans and Native Americans during World War II.
  • Explain why Japanese Americans were held in internment camps during the war.

The above objectives correspond with the Alabama Course of Study: US History 11 Objectives: 10.
