You just learned that ACCESS is Alabama’s online learning program for middle and high school students. You also learned that ACCESS courses can be taken any time, any place, and any pace. But what does that mean?

Any time means that you can work on ACCESS courses any time you like

  • at 9 am
  • at 4 pm
  • or, if you are a night owl, at 10 pm

You can even work on the courses over weekends. Any time means that you can work on the course whenever you want.

Any place means you can work on the course wherever you want

  • at school
  • at home
  • at the library
  • on vacation

As long as you have an internet connection, you can work on your course. You will have to take unit tests and term exams under the watch of a proctor. Other than that, where you work is your choice.

Any pace means that you have some freedom to work a little ahead or behind the course schedule set by your teacher. Keep in mind that you do have to complete the course by the course end date. Have you completed a lesson and mastered its objectives? You can move on. You don’t have to wait for anyone else in the course. Do you need to take a little more time with a challenging lesson? You can take a little more time.

Again, you must try to keep up with your teacher’s course schedule. But, with any pace, you have some flexibility when you really need it.
