What is ACCESS?

ACCESS stands for Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators, & Students Statewide. But what does that mean?

ACCESS is Alabama’s free public virtual learning program. We provide free online and videoconferencing courses to students at public middle schools and high schools. Students throughout the state of Alabama take ACCESS courses.

Our online classes can be taken

  • any time
  • any place
  • and at any pace

Your class is taught by a real teacher, who will guide you through your course, answer questions, email you, and provide feedback on your work. Your teacher’s job is to help you succeed in your class. Don’t be afraid to contact them with any questions or concerns.

Your school should also assign you to a facilitator. Your facilitator is someone at your school who can assist with technical problems, watch over you during tests, and help you keep on task. If you don't know who your facilitator is, ask your guidance counselor. In addition to following your teacher’s rules and policies, make sure you follow your facilitator’s rules and policies.

If you work hard in your course and communicate regularly with your teacher for feedback, advice, and help, you can succeed in your ACCESS course.

Now that you know what ACCESS is, let’s learn how to navigate in a course. Click the tab at the top of the page to continue.
